Would you like to change something in your life? Are you just ticking over in life or putting up with things as they are, although you would rather they be different? Or is there another specific ‘problem’ that you are experiencing currently? Often when we have a problem we want to talk about, we may at first think of counselling. Coaching, Therapy or Solution Focused Hypnotherapy offer a research based method of the benefits of solution focused talk therapy plus gentle hypnosis.

Often, when something is not ‘right’ with our Self, our Work or our Relationships (3 key well-being areas which need to be in good working order to feel good), we can experience background stress. Often we try to solve a ‘problem’ by thinking about the problem; this in itself can worsen stress, which can leave us unable to think clearly and unable to take action.

As our stress levels increase we may experience many symptoms or behaviours which are related to stress and which may become an issue itself, such as:

  • Relationship problems
  • Poor sleep
  • Anxiety
  • Feelings of depression
  • Fears and phobias
  • Panic attacks
  • Unwanted habits
  • Low self-confidence/self-esteem
  • Over/under-weight
  • Anger and aggression
  • Obsessive thinking/actions
  • Drinking too much alcohol
  • Social anxiety/withdrawal
  • Feelings of loss of control/being overwhelmed
  • Avoiding issues
  • Underperformance at work or other areas of life
  • Effects of bullying

Coaching, Therapy or Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can help with the above and is designed to reduce anxiety and calm the mind. In the relaxed environment of a hypnotherapy session, it is possible to move towards solutions that can lie in the ‘problem’ – but – often lie outside of it – producing sometimes unexpected, and often, easy answers to help you now and in the future. (For example, if you want to lose weight, part of the solution may well be altering what you eat and exercising, but it may be that you are lonely – in which case, increasing contact with people puts you in a more positive, calmer frame of mind, where it is so much easier to take control of eating and other areas of life). During the session, we practise Solution Focused talk (whether Coaching/Therapy or Hypnotherapy)and I draw on techniques from C.B.T., N.L.P. and Mindful practice.

During hypnosis, you will be guided into a relaxed state, where suggestions are designed to be beneficial to help you change unhelpful thought patterns. Taking control and feeling good about one area of our life can also have a wonderful ripple effect on other areas of our lives. In this way, Solution Focused Hypnotherapy may help alleviate or ‘un-do’ other symptoms and unwanted habits.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy assumes that you have the knowledge, confidence and abilities to find your own solutions to a better life; these strengths often lie within us, but we may not recognise them as they can be hidden underneath layers of anxiety or living a life of ‘habit’. Each client and each session is unique and, working as a ‘team’, we will move forward at a pace that is appropriate to you.
